Vinjournalen: La Viarte – The winery with two high quality vintage wines
La Viarte Vineyard was founded in 1973 in the Friuli Colli Orientali DOC region between the municipalities, Corno di Rosazzo and Prepotto. The vineyard grows grapes on two-thirds of 34 hectares. Here are a variety of local grapes such as Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Schioppettino di Prepotto, Pignolo, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and the rare Tazzelenghe and international grape varieties such as Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon. In addition to the fine wines called Friuli Colli Orientali DOC and Venezia Giulia IGT, there are also two special wines. These are two vintage wines named Friulano Liende and Sauvignon Liende. ‘Liende’ means legend and these two wines are made from their oldest varieties of grapes.
The winery has chosen to use an environmentally friendly strategy to grow the grapes. This is done by drastically reducing the use of pesticides and fertilizers in the fields. In addition, the vines are closely controlled and the processes are monitored to produce high quality wines with minimal environmental impact.
